They’re both in the ceremonial county of Greater London actually.

Re: Essex question
It's close to where my dad grew up. He considered it Essex all his life.

As for the original question, who knows?

To fool potential invaders.

No Romans, Saxons, Normans since it was named.

Re: Essex question
The answer to this slightly boring question is also I am afraid, equally boring. If not more so!

The South East Essex Technical College dates from the 1930s in those days the Essex County Boundary and particular the Essex Education Aurthority's responsibility extend much further West in towards London than it does today.

I went to School in East Ham in 1950's and despite East Ham being a London Borough, the Education Authority was Essex.

In those days Essex County Cricket played some home games in Leyton which is of course even further West.

Infact prior to 1963 London Government Act Essex went as far West as Hackney and Stepney.

Hope that explains all.

Ffs. Again?

Romford and Upminster are, and have been for 50 years in London. Thick cunts living in the past. It’s like people thinking Middlesex exists. It doesn’t

Hassans
Thick I maybe but the original question was why was South East Essex college so named.
As it was named In1936 the answer lies in the past.

I can appreciate you don't like history but your Geography needs some work as well as the college was neither in Upminster or Romford but in Dagenham later Barking & Dagenham.
Oh and by the way like you I live in the present although this was posted in the past!

Re: Essex question
East hammer 3.09, in 1963 Stepney was in Middlesex and so too was Poplar. And we must not forget that Tottenham was also part of Middlesex.

Enjoyed that Eddie son... lot of truth's in there... made me laugh when we made it big in the video hire trade we bought a beautiful house in Thorpe Bay that backed onto the golf course... my Mum when answering the phone went from Barking to an old Etonian overnight...

Re: Essex question
I always like how certain areas are written in the press.

If there's a fluffy teddy bear parade it's Romford in Essex.

If there's a murder it's Romford in East London.
